Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State has ordered closure of brothels housing criminals with immediate effect in the state.
The governor also banned the use of face masks in public places for proper identification.
The decision was announced on Tuesday by Governor Bello when he held a crucial strategic security meeting with all First Class traditional rulers, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command and the 21 Local Government Chairmen at the state government house in Lokoja, the state capital.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the State Security Adviser was also in attendance.
The decision according to the governor was as a result of several incessant attacks on residents by terrorists.
Since the start of the 2022, the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for multiple terrorist attacks as these have made known the presence of insecurity in Kogi state.
