Streams Of Joy As Ogbe-Ijoh Gets First Catholic Priest, Celebrates Him In A Thanksgiving Service

Yesterday, Ogbe-Ijoh town in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State was in agog as sons and daughters massively came through in ceremonious accord to honour their first catholic priest.

History is made today. Rev. Fr. Barnabas Dudiegha who was ordained about 20 days ago as a missionary priest became the first catholic priest in the history of Ogbe-Ijoh town.

It was all cheers of happiness during the thanksgiving service at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ogbe-Ijoh town when Rev. Fr. Barnabas Dudiegha acknowledged God’s faithfulness and goodness through the journey to Priesthood.

He thus went further to appreciate the support from family, friends, and the church during the long time sail in trainning.

He said:

“I am overwhelmed with joy today, and I may not have the beauty of words to appreciate you all.

“But Let me begin by thanking God whose grace, love, and mercy saw me through to priesthood today.

“Though, the journey was never an easy one as you all know but God Almighty stood by me all through.

“I wouldn’t forget the support given to me by my family, friends, and the entire church in prayers and otherwise. I pray God to bless you now and forever.

“While we gathered here to celebrate the gift of a priest in our dear Ogbe-Ijoh Community, and to those who came from far and near, my prayer is always to see you been blessed by God in all your moral endeavors through Christ Our God, Amen”, he concluded.

The atmosphere of the gathering of christian faithful was all happiness adorned in goodwill wishes as the newly ordained spiritual father begins his religious duties.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Ogbe-Ijoh town from both the Youths and Elders Wings, Chiefs in Council, St. Brenda’s Ijaw Catholic Community, Warri Diocese, Corporate Bodies, NGOs, Individuals, and catholic priests were in attendance.

After the thanksgiving mass, guests in a reception segment were entertained by cultural dance, and other forms of entertainment.

The management and staff of Thepeoplesvoicengr also join the world to wish him well on this call to serve in God’s vineyard.
