Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, the Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area received in his office the honourable minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental affairs.

Angele Welcoming The Minister

The honourable minister, Sen. George Akume was represented by Engr. Kayode Adebayor, on an inspection and documentation of projects and programmes tour across the 774 local government areas of the federation.

Angele in his remarks, welcomed the honourable minister and his entourage. He noted that Burutu LGA is one of the oldest local government areas in Nigeria which was created in 1976. While other local governments have been splited to spread democratic dividends, Burutu which is the largest LGA in Delta State and one of the biggest in Nigeria remains unsplitted to accommodate the ever growing population.

Furthermore, Angele drew the federal government’s attention to the fact that only Burutu LGA out of the 25 local governments in Delta State is yet to be connected to the national grid and that they should take action in this regard as the council spends over six million naira monthly in buying diesel to power the town of Burutu.

In addition, the council boss listed legacy projects and achievements of his government as a council chairman despite the constraints in generating revenue internally due to the terrain.

The honourable minister in his response, thanked the executive chairman for the warm reception and for all of the human capital development projects he has initiated and completed in the local government area. He was very quick to note the terrain in which the local government area is situated and says he is impressed with what he has seen.

The minister also acknowledged the issues presented before him by the chairman, and promised to relate them to the appropriate quarters.

Importantly, Angele took the minister and others round the local government headquarters to inspect projects by his administration. The projects inspected by the minister include:Storey building containing 20 self-contain for the 20 legislators (councillors)

Head of Personnel Management, HPM Official Residence

Treasurer to Local Government, TLG Official Residence

Health Facility/Equipments
