Rainfall Sinks Jakpa Road As Residents Call Out To Onoyake, Okowa For Rescue

Residents of Jakpa road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State have cried out with discomfort as their roads and houses are now submerged in water after the rainfall today.

Thepeoplesvoicengr in a visibility walk discovered that major part of Jakpa and many streets off the main road have now sank, courtesy of the rains today.

Many residents of Jakpa road in a chat with Thepeoplesvoicengr have called on the Uvwie Council Boss, Hon. Ramson Onoyake, the Warri Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, and the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to please proffer lasting solution to this everyday menace.

The flooding at every rainfall disrupts vehicular and pedestrian movement along the road thereby causing gridlock and sometimes accidents.

Moreover, the residents noted that this has an age-long menace they have suffered. They had through different medium called on the appropriate authorities to come to their aid but all to no avail.

The discussants pressed that proper drainage system is needed to channel the waterflow to the nearby Ekpan river.

Moreover, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has given a forcast of above normal rainfall season in 2021 across the country and less in some parts of Northern Nigeria.

Sen. Hadi Sirika, the Aviation Minister on Tuesday in Abuja made this revelation while presenting the 2021 Seasonal Climate Predictions (SCP) produced by NiMet).

The above is a clarion call on all individuals and government parastatals to be on their toes to clear drainages and every road from blockage.
