Bayelsa Councillor Breaks Jinx, Builds BoreHole For His Ward After 30 Years Without Drinkable Water

Councillor Representing Ward 10 in Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, Hon Johnson Diete Azibato (Facebook name) has broken the 30 years jinx of his people without drinkable water.

Hon. Johnson carried out the borehole water project in Ogu-Ama Community as part of his promises to the people of ward 10.

According to the Facebook post, to get clean water has been one of the major challenges of the people Ogu-Ama community. They get their drinking water from polluted river, well or when it rains.

It was revealed that for over 30 years, they have not fetched water from a Borehole because they have no borehole in the community.

It was jubilation in the community as elders, women and youths all trooped out to drink from the borehole. They also thanked Hon. Johnson Diete Azibato for carrying out such a huge project for them.

The Niger Delta Insider who spoke to the councillor on phone and the honorable councillor confirmed that he decided to do the project because it’s what the community had always wanted. He noted though, it wasn’t an easy task but as a leader he needed to deliver.

“It wasn’t easy carrying out such project, bringing material to the location was a very difficult task but I told myself this must be done. How can a community like this not have borehole for over 30 years. I’m happy that I achieved this, am happy that the community people are happy” he said.
