Delta State University Suspends Lectures For Monday 10th May, 2021 To Mourn Students Killed By Cement Truck In Abraka

The management of Delta University, Abraka, Delta state has declared that lectures slated to hold Monday 10 May, 2021 be suspended due to the death of students in a truck accident.

The management also appealed to students to remain calm as the university mourns those whose lives were lost in the unfortunate incident.

According to the Voice of the People Magazine, the truck which belongs to Dangote Group was descending from Abraka main station road when it lost control and killed two final year students of Economics Department.

In a statement by the institution’s bulletin, dated 7th May 2021 stated that, “The Management of Delta State University, Abraka received with great shock the news of an accident involving a Dangote trailer which occurred in the evening of Tuesday, May 2021 in which some of our students sadly lost their lives.

The Management commiserates with the University community on the sad incident. The Management had also informed the State Government about this unfortunate incident and we are working with Government to prevent a reoccurrence.

As a mark of respect for our departed students, the lectures slated to hold Friday, May 7 and Monday 10, 2021 be suspended and lectures to resume on Tuesday 11th May, 2021.

The University Management commiserates with the University community, the families, victims and people of Abraka over this unfortunate incident”, the statement ended.
