Aba Police Station Attack; Government Imposes Dusk To Dawn Curfew On Motorcyles And Tricycles In Major Cities

An Aba Police Station in Abia State was attacked by hoodlums who were said to be yet identified. The attackers are made away with arms and ammunition from the station.

The attack according to reports took place in the early hours of Tuesday 23rd February, 2021, both the police and hoodlums lost some persons to the attack.

The Government of Abia State has reacted, condemned the attack as noted in a statement. The government has said that security agencies in the state have swiftly began to investigate the incident to bring the culprits to book for justice to make the headlines quickly, noting that the government will not cede criminals operating in any forms.

Furthermore, the Abia State Government has also promised to pay one million naira (#1,000,000) to anyone with useful information that would lead to the recovery of the arms carted away by the hoodlums, as well as the arrest of any suspects involved in the incident.

As regards the incident, the state government has imposed a dusk to dawn (7:00pm to 7:00am) curfew on the operation of motorcycles and tricycles in all major cities of the state with effect from today, Wednesday 24th February, 2021.
