History is made today as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala emerges the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO after due selection process.
On Monday 15th February, 2021, the World Trade Organisation officially announced Okonjo-Iweala’s emergence as the new Director General of the organisation.
Ngozi is in the world history book as the first woman and African to man such an exalted office. She’s a Nigerian Economist and an Expert in international development. The Ugwash-Uku-born economist was born on the 13th of June, 1954.
The former finance minister under former president Goodluck Jonathan’s led-administration has the knowledge and wealth of experience to improve the economic woes of WTO caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The World Trade Organisation, WTO is a global international organization that deals with the rules and regulations of trade between registered nations.
In the mood of celebration and gratitude, the Delta State-born new Director General of the organisation has expressed appreciation to the WTO, and the support she garnered from across the globe that has made her the new boss of the trade organisation.
With her wealth of knowledge and experience, we believe that the organisation will recover from the economic setbacks brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
