Warri S/W LGA: Warri Corner Zonal Body Furious Over Election Of Non-Indigene Councillorship Candidate Of Adu Ward

A few months ago, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of Warri Southwest LGA elected their councillorship flagbearers in all wards of the local government to contest the designated office in the LG’s elections scheduled for March 6th, 2021.

The Adu ward in Warri Southwest LGA comprises seven communities which include Egbemene, Adugbene, Desmond Island, Sandfield 2, Hotel, Oweigbene, and Naifor in Ogbe-Ijoh – Warri Kingdom.

In reaction to the election, the Warri Corner Zonal Body (WCZB) alleges that the Adu ward flagbearer of the PDP is a non-indigene of the ward. In other words, the said flagbearer does not hail from any of the communities that make up the Adu ward, therefore appeals to the party’s leaders to correct the political error before the general elections.

From a phone chat with the central governing body, they further alleged that the elected doesn’t know anything concerning the welfare and development of the ward, therefore seeks the nullification of his election, premised on the aforementioned issues.

The Warri Corner Zonal Body demands for a grassrooted indigene from any of the communities, who knows the pains and needs of the ward to represent them at the councillor level either produced by PDP, APC or other political parties.

“We need somebody who will attract government’s attention to the stated communities through visible democratic dividends in the form of basic amenities such as electricity, drinkable water, hospital, etc,” they added.
