FG Sheds Light On Lockdown; Asks Nigerians To Shun Rumour

There is rumour making round the walls of social media that the Federal Government is considering another lockdown. The Federal Government has therefore asked all Nigerians to ignore the rumour in circulation.

Mr. Boss Mustapha, the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and Secretary to Federal Government made this known in a statement on Thursday duly signed by the information officer in his office, Mr. Willie Bassey that there’s no discourse for such in the meetings. No recommendation of such idea is conceived made known to the president of the federation.

He said Nigerians should shun the misinformation making round the social media which can trigger untold fear and anxiety among Nigerians across the nation.

In his words, “The attention of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has been drawn to some misinformation circulating on the social media to the effect that the Federal Government is contemplating another lockdown this weekend.

He stated further, “The PTF wishes to state categorically that there is no such consideration at any of its meetings, nor has any recommendation been made to this effect to the President.
“The PTF frowns at such unpatriotic misinformation which is capable of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety among the populace”.
