It is now pertinent for Kenya female prisoners to cry out publicly their desire for sexual intimacy. They can no longer hold back their pulse for sex, hence they plead the Kenya Government through the prison authority to implement laws to enable them go down with their visiting spouses anytime they visit them.
Sofia Swaleh is a serving female prisoner who on behalf of other inmates complained that the time given to their visiting spouses and relatives is too short. It does not allow intimacy.
According to Sofia Swaleh from Mtangani GK Prison in Malindi, Kilfi County, “The government through the leadership of Kenya Prisons, should introduce a law that allows women serving lengthy jail terms enjoy sexual intimacy with their visiting husbands”.
There are currently more than 10,000 convicted women prisoners in Kenya, though clearly lesser in Kenya’s Criminal Justice System which presently holds over 70,000 male prisoners.
Kenya’s female prisoners proportion in relation to Nigeria’s is very major. Unlike Kenya, Nigeria’s convicted women prisoners is about 1500, staking just 2% of the inmates population in Nigeria.
