The Covid-19 Pandemic on its second calling just like Wole Soyinka’s “Abiku”, “I am Abiku, calling for the first and the repeated time”, ravaging many countries across the globe, and Nigeria is not excluded.
Though, Africa is not majorly hit by this global health nightmare but over 2million cases have been reported, and thousands of death counted.
Alarmingly, with the upsurge of the Covid-19 pandemic on its second call, Federal Government may order the lockdown of some states with the most spike of cases. Lagos state is tipped as the state with most cases. Others include FCT, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, and others.
Worthy of note, the lockdown from March 2020 which lasted for several weeks helped in curtailing the spread of Covid-19, and 2021 is going in same direction unless God intervenes.
Schools were supposed to resume on the 4th and 11th January, 2021 but the steady rise of Covid-19 cases has compelled government to shift resumption of schools to 18th January, 2021 for further checks on the pandemic. To this regard, many states have shutdown nightclubs, and other social gatherings.
Nigeria now has in records at the time of this editorial 99, 063 confirmed cases with successfully treated and discharged cases as 79, 417 and death toll at 1,350.
