Edo 2020 Governorship Election: Candidacies of APC Ize Iyamu and Deputy Nullified

Today in Edo State, the candidacies of Pastor Ize Iyamu and his deputy, Audu Gani Abudu were nullified by the Edo High Court, premised on false information presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in his form, EC9 to enable him contest the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo State.

The plaintiff, Sunday Kadiri who hails from same Ogbona ward in Etsako West LGA of Edo State with Audu Gani Abudu, brought the suit numbered B/3582020 against him.

The verdict as given by Justice Courage Ogbebor nullified the APC deputy governorship candidacy in the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election on the ground of false data to the electoral commission by Audu Gani Abudu.

Furthermore, the plaintiff also requested for the disqualification of the APC governorship candidate, Pastor Ize Iyamu by virtue of running with an unqualified candidate as a deputy.

Responding to the judgement, Pastor Ize Iyamu reposed confidence, assuring his supporters that the Court of Appeal will “surely prevail in the matter to the glory of God”, therefore asked all those who stand by him to be calm and law-abiding.
